Chrysanthemum Banko-yaki Teapot - 250ml
This elegant Banko-yaki kyusu (teapot) is made in the nasu-gata shape (茄子型 -eggplant shape) and is thrown from the iconic Banko shidei (紫泥) clay. A high-iron clay that is fired in reduction, shidei known for its muted purple colour and ability to subtly reduce the astringency of tea.
The pot is decorated with handpainted kiku (菊 - chrysanthemums) using a technique called mori-e which involves multiple rounds of firing and painting to achieve a vibrant and dimensional effect.
The teapot's built-in ceramic debeso filter is perfect for naturally straining tea. The kyusu ships in its original kiribako (桐箱 - wooden paulownia box), signed and sealed by the artists.
