Japanese Matcha Bowl - 谷口良三 Ryōzō Taniguchi - Sonami-yū Umber Glazed Kyo-yaki Chawan - 150ml

This Kyo-yaki tsutsu-gata chawan (matcha bowl) features a slight rokurome (轆轤目 - spiraly potters' wheel marks) along its tall, cylindrical shape. It is glazed in a unique burnt umber glaze called sonami-yū (曽波釉) which has subtle gradations along the lip. The bowl's tall shape is ideal for keeping tea warm in the cold winter months.

This chawan was made by Ryōzō Taniguchi (谷口良三) and comes with its original kiribako (桐箱) wooden paulownia box
