Green Ryokudei Sakura Tokoname Teapot - 270ml

This expertly crafted tall Tokoname-yaki kyusu (teapot) is made from green ryokudei (緑泥) Tokoname clay. In addition to general use, its tall shape makes it especially suited for brewing tightly rolled oolong and black teas which tend to expand more during steeping. The back and lid of the kyusu are decorated with elegant pink sakura (桜 - cherry blossoms) with green leaves. Unlike most Tokoname kyusu, this pot's lid is of the inset style, similar to some Chinese yixing teapots.

The teapot's built-in ceramic sasame filter is perfect for naturally straining tea, with a wide shape for faster pouring and less clogging.

This piece was made by the highly-respected Gyokko (玉光) Kiln, manned by the master potters of the Umehara family. As these are handmade pieces, there may be slight variations in the shape and colouration.
