Kaiyaki Celadon Splashed Tokoname Houhin - 120ml

This unique Tokoname-yaki houhin (handleless teapot) has a taller shape with a flaring collar and is made from a white stoneware. The striking blue and orange colours dancing across the piece like fire and ice come from the interplay of two decorative techniques. First is kaiyaki (貝焼 - shell firing) in which scallop shells are laid on the pot as it is fired, leaving the warm orange marks on the piece. On top of this Junzō has splashed his celadon glaze on the pot, resulting in the random stripes and dots of blue-green glaze.
